The Quilts

Ok, this is my first post, since setting up the subscribe/feeds features on my blog. Lets see if they work...

I've recently been asked to make two baby quilts. I started off with a bargello-y type rainbow quilt. I showed you the strips and parts of the process and now, the top is assembled!

All the squares are 3". I like it. I like the big bright yellow stripe in the middle. When I get back from my big vacation, I'll be quilting all over this one.

She also has a son. The restriction on that quilt was "make it boy-ee". I started in on it and decided to go with greens and cream colors. Its a two-color quilt.

Alrighty. These are 4" squares cut and ready to go to make blocks based on the Jewel Box block from the Quilter's Cache. If you haven't been to that site, you should. Its amazing! More quilting resources than a little bit! So here's the block. Its very bold, since it only has two colors, so there are many many design possibilities, once you this one little unit.

Now I've got this nice big diagonal to work with. With this one block you can make X's or diagonal lines or, the one I went with, squares, as a secondary visual effect on the quilt top. I love it.

Its still a bit small for my tastes so I'll probably put a cream colored border around it and finish it with dark green binding.

Thanks for checking out my blog and my quilt post... and hey, if you were notified about this post via email or other site feed- let me know in the comments section. THANKS! ~jen~

I love the quilts. You do to quilts what your brother does to studying. Your only restrictions seems to have enough time. I haven't received an email for new updates.
