Quilt Guild Challenge
The local traditional guild hosted a challenge.
We picked up fabrics in November.
Well, they are due this week.
- The challenge had to incorporate the orange or green (highlighted below). A piece of brown and a piece of beige. When you purchased your challenge bundle, you received either a green or orange- I sat next to a lady who received the color opposite myself, so we half'd our pieces and incorporated both.
- The challenge also had a to have 4" diameter (or larger) circle in the design.
- We had to make our finished quilt under a certain size so that the collection of quilts could be considered for the AQS Knoxville Guild Challenge.
- You aren't supposed to show anyone your quilt 'til its actually due.
I was able to use only fabrics from my own stash to complete the top. Isn't it just wonderful that I have all sorts of funky colored stuff hoarded away? hahaha.
I think there will be a fair amount of entrants. Once all the designs are collected, there's some kind of vote or committe to see who will make it to the Knoxville round. Though I love love my quilt, I know the ladies in our guild are crazy-talented. We'll see if it makes the cut. Keep your fingers crossed for me. =)
I free motion quilted the quilt (which I guess I didn't snap a photo of that) and the binding is brown and beige, with each color lining up with the opposite one around the edge. (yep, no pic.)

Birthday Gift- BLOWOUT
Its the last day of the ReannaLily Designs blog birthday party! Look for a gift give-away each day this week. The contests will be open until Monday the 23rd. On the 23rd (5pm Central Time) I will draw a winner from each day and post the lucky names. Good luck and thanks for coming to the party!
Oh my goodness. Today is the last day! It has been a very fun blogland birthday party and a wonderful couple years. Here's to many more! I've been fortunate to have many supporters and make many friends along the way in this business. ReannaLily Designs has also had the opportunity to work with some excellent fabric companies.
Today's gift is a collection of HALF YARD CUTS from the various companies I've had the pleasure of working with in the previous year.
First there's Art Gallery Fabrics. As you know, I authored and illustrated 7 of the Art Gallery Fabric sewing patterns. I learned so much from that experience. I'm including 5 HALF YARD CUTS from Art Gallery Fabrics.
Next, Northcott Fabrics. QuiltWoman.com partnered (sort-a, that might not be the right word there) with Northcott to bring independent pattern designers directly to the fabric. I worked with a couple different fabric lines, releasing 2 patterns in the fall and remaking a couple of my other covers in the Northcott pallet. ReannaLily Designs will be releasing 3 more Northcott patterns this October. For this blow-out gift, I'm including a total of 1 1/2 YARDS of Mark Lipinski's Home Elements.
Lastly, Michael Miller fabrics. Wait... I don't currently have a pattern on the market that is exclusively Michael Miller fabrics... BUT have you seen the October 2010 edition of Quilter's World? Oh goodness, my Circle Purse is featured in the In The Bag article. (I'm planning a whole blog post on the magazine, but I didn't realize the October Issue would be out so soon.) The Circle Purse is made with Laura Gunn's Lantern Bloom. For the blow-out celebration, I'm including 4 HALF YARD CUTS of Lantern Bloom.

I am so fortunate to have today's birthday gift sponsor be my friend and local quilt guild buddy, Jackie Clark. I met Jackie on the very first guild meeting I attended. Guild meeting was on the second day I lived in Wichita. {I'm a girl with priorities...} Our local guild has over 800 members. In fact, its so big that they have two separate meetings, with attendance at both around 300+ members. Its an insane turn out. She saved me from a sea of lonely. That size guild is one where you can definitely get lost. Thanks for not letting me get lost, Jackie.
So not only is she a friend in the guild, but she's a fabric designer for Benartex and she owns her own pattern company, Jackie Clark Designs. Her style is very soft and peaceful, and geared towards babies. I was fortunate enough to work with Jackie's fabrics for the cover of Baby's Boxes (RD2-012)
Jackie has generously donated 8 HALF YARD CUTS from her line. These fabrics are from her girl pallet, In The Nest, and boy pallet, Baby Business.
She has also donated 2 patterns from Jackie Clark Designs. The two titles are Sleepy Bags and {Little Flower} Pocket Top. You may have recently seen the cover of the Pocket Top pattern on the back of the Fons and Porter Baby Quilts Magazine.

She was very professional and down-to-earth. (I was more of a deer-in-the-headlights, hot-mess at market, debuting the Seamingly Accurate Seam Guide.) In any case, Barb has gone on to be QuiltWoman.com's top-selling pattern/book author and is gearing up to release her 3rd line of fabric with Blank Quilting.

I WON!
Right before vacation I entered to win a drawing hosted by Fat Quarterly. I'm always leaving comments around blogland for drawings. I'm guessing you are too. BUT I actually won! When I returned from vacation I found this lovely pack of Blue Underground Patterns mailed to me by Fat Quarterly contributor, QUILT DAD. I only recently learned about Blue Underground. Market Review- Scratch that- GIVE AWAY!!!
I have a few blog posts to share with you from market. Everything from goofy pictures of yours truly, to my new favorite products. I just flew home today and I'm completely exhausted.
