Hen Feathers Quilt Shop

I thought it might be fun to give you a shop tour of the shops around Wichita. I did a post on Material Girls, the newest shop in town.

And now I'd like to show you Hen Feathers Quilt Shop. Click the pictures to see them larger.

I really like this shop quite a bit. Not only is it my local, close shop, but its a wonderful friendly shop with great selection. The very first day I went to Hen Feathers was the annual shop hop last October. The staff was busy, but super nice and approachable.

Let me tell you what separates Hen Feathers from the rest-

For every quilt displayed on her wall, she has a kit for it ready to go. It saves the customer's so much time. Its also cool that it pretty much guarantees she also has a certain bolt in the shop- if its in the quilt. Its a pretty smart practice.

One thing about this shop is that they have an insane amount of flannels. Hen Feather's has this wonderful new-to-me flannel that is printed to look like a heavy tweed coat fabric- but really its lovely quality quilter's weight cotton. Brilliant.

There's also a range of batiks. I mean, so many batiks in all colors and shades. mmmmmm......

There's always seems to be a seasonal section in the shop too. Right now, of course, its Halloween. Now check out this cool Jack-o-Lantern Cube Purse she made. Too cute! (In the lower left of the picture. The Cube Purse RD2-019)

This shop also has a large selection of MODA cut pieces- layer cakes, charm packs and jelly rolls. They are all over the store and also displayed on this armoire. There's a whole stack of Fandango by Kate Spain right there!

Hen Feathers also offers many classes. They have a wide open class room area. Natural light and plenty of plugs.
And in the growing trend of quilt shops with good sense- Hen Feathers also has a play area for the wee little ones. This is right in the front of the store, by the flannels, juvenile prints and baby prints. Thank you so much for adding in a spot for the kids! Another quilt shop after my own heart!

GREAT quilt shop. You'll have to stop in and check it out. The big Wichita Shop Hop is the first weekend in October. Mark your calendars and plan your road trip!
