Blogger's Quilt Festival- Dresden Strip Quilt

This is my little quilt for the Blogger's Quilt Festival hosted by Amy's Creative Side. This quilt is only as big as a fat quarter of fabric- 18" x 22". I wanted to make it using samples I received from the International Quilt Market. The batik fabrics are from Karen Combs and the quilting thread is by Kreinik. I've never used Kreinik thread before. Its shimmery and wonderful. You might not be able to tell in the blog, but the top of the quilt has this extra sparkle to it, all thanks to the quilting thread. (Click the picture below)

I seriously need to learn more about quilting threads and this is my first step out of the "all purpose thread for quilting" comfort box. I like it out here, out of the box.

This quilt has a whole tutorial found here.

Also, don't forget to enter to win the FAT QUARTER BUNDLE donated by Jackie Clark and Benartex. The drawing is open until Friday May 28th, 2010.

Now how in the heck did you find some time to sew when you just got back from Market yesterday??? Don't you sleep?

I love all the variation of colour in the quit. What a neat way to use the Dresde strips.

Love the feel of the quilt and the colors-reminds me of the southwest desert (blue sky and red rocks).
