Ready For a Road Trip!

I'm ready for a roadtrip! We are driving a zillion miles, in roughly two hundred hours to get to my in-laws place for the holidays. No, it really isn't that far away. Maybe only a couple-a-three states over from my current place. In fact, we are MUCH closer, physically, than we've been in about 4 years or so. My in-laws lived in South Africa for 4 years and during some of that time, we lived in Korea. I'm tellin ya, we're all over the place. Well, this year- everyone on my husband's side of the family is in the USA. It should be very fun.

I've got my "sewin' on a road trip" quilt all ready to go. I feel like I've been working on this forever. Needless to say, its being hand-quilted so it takes a bit longer. This is the quilt where I used my free quilting stencils. Its also the driving force behind my Set On Point tutorial, too. I've quilted all the "blank" blocks and only have left to do the basket blocks and bind it. Surely, I can make a dent in this baby over a zillion mile drive.

Now that I'm looking at the quilt on the computer- those white squares REALLY stand out. I was going for a scrappy look and the beige squares are all different too... but I suppose they are still in the beige family, rather than the white. Well, too late to switch 'em out now. This quilt will just have a little extra character. =)

Merry Christmas! ~jen~

update: We made it! and... I'm done quilting. Looks like I'll be applying binding on the return trip.
