Sewing For Me...
Although its titled Sewing For Me, I don't know if I'll actually be keeping the final product or if I rather just like Designing For Me. That would probably be more accurate.
As you faithful readers know, I saved out my Heather Bailey fabrics to ship separately for the big move. Fun fun fun stuff. I've put a little dent into my stash, but thats why I have it, right?
Today I wanted to make the infamous Cube purse, with NO military fabrics.
I'm pretty sure I love it. I also discovered a new little trick- By not having the stiff BDU/uniform fabric, I can give the purse a whole new shape:
Also, since I didn't have any dingy olive green on my fabrics, I went ahead and made my own handles (rather than using the nylon adorned with ribbons). I have to tell you- the new style handles are very fun. I really like that they match. Well, they should, I made the handles out of the same fabric as the bag! Ha.
The military version of this bag uses the uniform shirt, complete with functional pockets, BUT since I wanted to go BDU-less, I needed to add my own welt pocket on the front there. Its got the flap showing, and the pocket is very tidy underneath. Inside, its got 5 pockets. (4 drop in, one zip top)
Its patch-worky, functional, trendy and very femme. I definitely think after my computer ships out, I should start working on the pattern for this one. In the mean time, thanks for checking out my new purse. ~jen~
