From concept to sketch to text/graphics to testing to graphic designer touches- holy smokes! So happy to be a little part of the process. They turned out beautifully and I've learned so much.

Wait 'til You See This

Oh my gosh, thankfully, my mother-in-law got a good picture of the super great product release. All that build up on the blog and my little camera hadn't taken a decent shot! So just a little bit more about market and then it will be back to the regularly scheduled programming. (as if anything is ever regular or scheduled!)

Those little bags are actually sewing kits. They're along the same lines as quilt kits- but they are for handbags, purse, toy boxes and playmats. The bags include EVERYTHING you need to make the bag pictured on the cover of the pattern. EVERYTHING except batting or interfacing. They have zippers, fabric, muslin for underlining, matching thread and on the one bag with a brooch, it even includes the BROOCH! You can click on the picture to see the bags a little better.

Let me show you some of the actual sewn bags (all of which have patterns from Art Gallery Fabrics.) These are some of the samples I made up for market or while writing the pattern. I've been saving these pictures, just for you!

This is the Firenze. Its my FAV favorite! Its so cute and fresh.

This is the Milano. Its larger and has a vintage brooch on the flap closure.

This next one is called Verona and it goes together super easy, like a tote- but with a nice curved piping detail and flap closure.

And lastly, the Travel Set. This pattern has 3 bags. A Laundry bag, a Shoe bag and a Lingerie bag- to keep your travels organized. (The two lower pictures are of the same lingerie bag.)

Ok, I have a few pictures for you. I have to tell you, I didn't take the big fancy DSLR. Its bulky for snapping shots at Market- when I have a 50lb weight limit with the airline... so I took the hubb's camera. His camera is the quality of camera you'd give your jr high student for a field trip. Um... so having said that... Here's a few pictures from Market-


Here I am speaking at the schoolhouse. I must be saying something really insightful, right? Art Gallery Fabrics launched a new pattern line. The patterns are 5 accessories patterns and one Play Mat quilt/toy pattern. Patricia Bravo is standing right there beside me. The big huge board is a blow-up size of one page from the new pattern line. I did the technical writing and illustrations for the pattern. Patricia did ALOT of the proof-reading and her graphic designer is absolutely brilliant. She turned a tradtional little pattern into an amazingly laid-out brochure, with pull-out pattern templates. I'll have pictures of that in another post. A post just dedicated to the patterns and how they turned out.

And here is the stunning, clean, avant-garde Art Gallery Fabrics booth. This is actually the best picture I have of the booth. Look at those georgous bags in the background. That is the Milano Bag and the bag in the upper left is my FAVORITE- the Firenze Bag. Even the chair backs are jazzed up.

What an incredibly fun weekend. I can talk about fabric and patterns all day! Still more pictures coming soon!

And remember those cute little booties and tag blanket I posted on the blog earlier? They got a bit of shelf time at the market too!


I have to go get the kids registered in their new schools at our new home today... and still with the unpacking... See ya soon!

A few pictures

I'm Back

I think on 50% of the blogs I follow, they all have "I'm Back" listed as the post today. Well, not to disappoint, I too, am back.

Of course, unlike all those other bloggers- I returned home to a brand spankin new home filled with a sea of cardboard boxes in a brand spankin new city. I have found the camera cord and I have (obviously) got the computer squared away. I'm very happy to report that while I was away at market, my hubbs actually unpacked TONS! Even the kitchen is done. In fact, I think - for as stressed out as I was- I'd prefer to move like this for every move.

My speech for the Art Gallery Fabrics Schoolhouse was well received. I fumbled up a bit in the beginning, but that was the about me part of the speech. Thankfully, by the time I was comfortable and going strong, it was all about the pattern- which is what the attendies wanted to hear about anyway. The patterns were a HUGE hit at market. And the big exciting amazing reveal product was announced. But of course, if you haven't heard what the reveal was... I'm afraid I want to keep you waiting just a tad longer 'til I have the picture. The picture is honestly worth a thousand words and the first few of those words will be "OH MY GOSH! THAT is AMAZING and BRILLIANT." So, when I get the photo... hopefully in the next two days... I'll fill you in if you haven't already seen them.

School House Specifics

A forced computer break-

So, you know I'm heading to the Houston Quilt Market and you know I'm moving. Did I tell you both events occur on the same weekend???

I packing for the show {hoping I don't forget anything} then having the packers/movers arrive, then driving 2 hours east to Oklahoma City, flying to Houston, flying back to OKC, then driving to the new place in Kansas. Holy smokes. The family will be moving with the household stuff that same weekend, after they drop me off at the airport. I'm tellin you, this might be shaving years off my life!

But I'm telling you all this because the Etsy shops are closed for a couple weeks ('til I unpack at the new home) and the internet will be taking a little break while we terminate our service from house-to-house.

I hope to update the blog from the market show- but if you've been, or if you've been to any trade show for that matter- its very exhausting. I'll try to stay on top of things, but you know... sometimes "busy" gets in the way.

My friend, Adreann had the cutest little fabric flowers on her daughter's skirt. She was gracious enough to share with me how she made them. I think the flower is the perfect up grade to my quilt block sampler purse. {You can see the purse on that link in the previous sentence.}

This is my jazzed-up side of the bag. Well, I say "side" this is now, officially, the front.
